Let’s Make a BILTONG BOX!

A simple box to protect your Biltong meat when drying can be easily made with only basic skills and tools. These free Biltong maker plans show you how and also how to improve your Biltong Box with heat and ventilation. You are responsible for safety in manufacture and usage of your Biltong Box and this document is intended for use by competent persons only.

The Box Construction

The idea is to create a space that is safe to dry your Biltong meat, away from bugs and vermin. Any old cupboard might be used as a Biltong maker, as long as you’re sure that it is safe, clean and suitable! But let’s suppose that you need to build your own Biltong Box from scratch.

These Biltongbox plans have been designed to make best use of a 2440 mm x 1220 mm sheet of 12 mm MDF board simply because this size seems to represent best value. You could probably use thinner board but this may be more expensive!

At the time of creating these Biltong maker plans, a 2440mm x 1220mm x 12mm sheet of MDF was available from B&Q for £13.96.
